So you want to build a sustainable business? It’s so important to create the business you want and are passionate about. By creating it in a very strategic way, aligned to your values and your strengths means you’ll remain in love with it.

Sustainable Business Growth

Online revenue is a huge part of creating a sustainable business. What this means is, you can remove yourself from one to one and in person or, perhaps you want to just create a balance of both of these. So, like the saying, “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” you’re effectively diversifying the way you deliver your services from one to one to one to many.

This can be done in many ways with different types of services and the biggest myth is that you need to have something ready BEFORE you sell it. You do not need to have something complete before you sell it, in fact quite the opposite – earn as you learn. What this means is, you literally create it as you go and earn while you’re working on it. Another thing to note is the final product is of a much higher value as you’ve built it with clients – as opposed to what you think they need.

Passive Income Myth

Now I want to touch on “passive income” and let me de-bunk the passive income myth.

Passive income is a word that’s thrown around quite a lot in the online space. I just want to set the record straight here. There really is no such thing as passive income. Passive income, seems like there is absolutely nothing that needs to go into this income generating machine and it will just create revenue. This is simply not the case. When you want to create something there’s always some form of effort, time, energy to create and deliver content. Even if this energy and time exchange is small – it’s not zero. So, I like to talk about semi-passive income, because semi-passive income is much more realistic and achievable.

Recurring Revenue

Recurring revenue is where income is generated on repeat without much extra work. It’s possible to add recurring revenue into any business and whatever stage your business is at. Now the types of semi passive income could be ranging from an ebook or online course, a monthly subscription or membership, and it could even be a group programme. This means you’re not trading time for money. Instead, your service is offering a transformation and it can be in such a way that it doesn’t require you all of the time.

There will be some things you can create upfront. So once you’ve put all that work in, it can be sold on repeat. There may also be live elements in there which means it will require some of you. But if you’re doing one to many, you’re able to serve more than one person at a time – amplifying your impact and income!

What do you need to create a sustainable business?

Audience

An audience, is a group of interested potential clients. If you have something to sell, you need to have an audience to put it in front of so the people who’re in the right place of their journey – can take that next step with you.

Client Journey

This is also called a sales funnel, I don’t really like this term and prefer client journey. I love thinking of this as an actual route – a pathway that you build, brick by brick, carving the way for your clients!

Ultimately your’e the guide and helping your clients go from destination A to destination B. Doing this in a manner that’s helping them, empowering them and giving them tools they need to get a transformation.

Content Strategy

Have you heard the phrase “content is king” along with content, it’s important to have a content strategy. Content is all about connecting with your dream client, making your messaging connect and resonate with your dream client. You want them to stop, feel drawn to you and to take some action. When you use “feel good” marketing it will feel easier and flow more naturally.

Nurturing Strategy

You need a method for nurturing your audience. When they enter your world, how do you help them? What tools and tech do you use and how much of this can happen while you are asleep – i.e, without any effort. Whatever this nurturing looks like for you, how do you help them stay connected to build that know – like – trust factor?

Focus on the right stuff

While all of these things seem like they are quite simple, there’is so much focus needed to create them in a way they’re aligned with you, what you’re trying to achieve, your goals and vision for your business. Bringing this all together so that you can put yourself out there – regardless of any mindset monkeys that creep in along the way. In order to see how valuable your services are, you need to work with your dream clients.

What next…?

We can all get “busy” in our day to day working life but it’s so important to remember to balance this out with the work that moves the needle in your business growth.
